Although it is not possible to establish exactly when Lev Tolstoy started reading Charles Dickens, it was in the 1850s, he was reading David Copperfield, which was one of his most favourite novels by the English writer. David Copperfield is probabiy the most popular of all Dickens’s novels, and it is certainly the most autobiographical. Andrew Taylor (b. 1940), one of the most eminent living Australian poets, has had a lasting relationship with Poland and Opole in particular. As a result of one of his several visits to Opole, he wrote two poems, “Dinner by the River,” which was later included in the volume edited by Peter Rose The Best Australian Poems 2008 (Melbourne: Black Inc., 2008), and “Driving to the Airport,” which appeared in The Unhaunting (London: Salt, 2009). This would make it possible to pinpoint specific curricular content and methodological traits that contribute to the enhancement of the communicative competence and initial development of TI competences. Ostatni z polskich romantyków, jak sam siebie nazwał, wprowadził do światowej literatury polskie dylematy, rozterki i wątpliwości, a także tęsknoty i pragnienia. Conrad przeniósł polskie doświadczenie na poziom uniwersalny i takim owo doświadczenie również uczynił. Violence in the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales: a corpus-based approach

The purpose of this article is to carry out a corpus-based study on the presence of violence in a selection of eight tales by the Grimm's Brothers by looking at the terms which can be said to relate to the semantic field of violence. More specifically, this study will analyse a selection of eight tales in which the frequency of the words cut, dead and blood will be studied in detail. These words have been chosen due to their possible connection to violence after carrying out a quantitative analysis of the frequency of the whole main corpus.
